Everyone Can Help!
The K-9 Hospice has been built for dogs like Bubba (above photo, now with his own forever home) on a model of simplicity, and we wish to keep it that way. We depend on people just like you to help us provide the sanctuary so many dogs need. Here's how you can help:
Adoption: Are you able to give a stable, loving home to a good dog? Let us know! While many of our dogs have a forever home right here at K-9 Hospice, many others would love to be part of your family. Dogs are adoptable only as household pets for individuals and families - dogs will never be placed with dog breeders or anyone wishing to use them for profit or experimentation. Contact us to learn more about adoption, our available dogs, or to find out when our next Adoption Day is! You can also see some of our adoptable dogs in our photo album or by visiting www.petfinder.com/shelters/AR216.html. If you are interested in adopting, contact us to arrange a visit or to learn when our next Adoption Day is. To view, print, or download our adoption contract, click here.
Individual gifters: Your gifts keep us going! People living in the Dardanelle/Russellville area drop by with donations of food, treats, and other supplies as they are able. Thank you! And to all you other good people around the world, consider sending a small donation to help us maintain our facility, pay veterinary bills, provide nutritious meals and treats, and purchase other supplies necessary for our canine home. Contact us to find our current most pressing needs or send a gift right now using our secure PayPal Donate button at the bottom of this page!
Business or association gifters: Businesses and professional or community associations can be a huge help to the K-9 Hospice by committing to donating dog food, cash, or supplies on a one-time or monthly basis. If you can contribute even one bag of dog food a month, please let us know! As a thank you, we'll be happy to include your business or association as a K-9 Hospice sponsor (see below) on our website. Contact us with your donation ideas!
Sponsors: We desperately need corporate and individual sponsors for the K-9 Hospice! A sponsor is someone who takes on a greater support role with the K-9 Hospice by committing to meeting a critical care need for a set period of time or by sponsoring one or more dogs. For example, a corporate sponsor could commit to providing 6 months of dry dog food, or to pay for basic shots or vet bills for 5 dogs. An individual sponsor might commit to donating $25/month or contributing towards veterinary care or by sponsoring one particular dog (yep, we'll even send you pictures and give you updates!). If you are interested in becoming a K-9 Hospice sponsor, let us know by calling us at 479-229-1091 or email us at k9hospicecorp@yahoo.com. Vet bills are a major concern right now, and we could really use your help!
Volunteer: Do you live in the Dardanelle, Russellville or Hector, AR area and wish to volunteer? We rely on volunteers to ensure that each and every dog receives the love and care it so much deserves. Volunteers are used to help feed and water dogs, play with and walk them, photograph dogs for the website or to put on petfinder.com, help clean kennels, assist with adoption days, and help maintain records. If you can volunteer an hour a week or a month, please contact us! In addition to daily volunteers, we are currently seeking:
- a volunteer coordinator (yep, another volunteer position) to help us schedule volunteers and promote volunteering within the area communities
- an Internet volunteer, to assist with creating Internet linkages to other sites, increasing our online presence, managing our site, and so on
- and, we could really use a fundraising or public relations volunteer - someone to assist with grant applications, creating partnerships with local businesses or online retail sites, generating and assisting with fundraising events, media relations, and so on. A great opportunity that will also look good on your resume'!
Internships: Unpaid internships may also be arranged for vet or vet tech students wishing to gain hands-on experience in providing basic canine care. Contact us to discuss possible arrangements - we'd love to have you here, even for a short time!
Lobo is one of many abused dogs that has found its way to the K-9 Hospice. Lobo is gradually regaining trust and is very loyal to those she knows best. When new people arrive at the K-9 Hospice, Lobo is one you'll see watching from the sidelines - eagerly watching other dogs take part in greeting and romping with new people, but hesitant to jump in. Lobo has a forever home with the K-9 Hospice, but would love to be queen of her very own domain. She will need a special home, though, filled with love and a great deal of patience from someone with experience working with troubled dogs. She's a sweetie, though, once her fears are put to rest.
