Hav you adopted a dog from the K-9 Hospice or the HSGRV? If so, we'd love for you to send us pictures and stories of your dog for our dog tails!

Here, Paint is in dog ecstacy as the center of attention with the 4-H girls of Yell County, Arkansas. That's an expression of pure love on the face of a dog that survived a terrible former life. Gerald found Paint along a highway south of Dardanelle - she had scar tissue in and around both ears, her tail had been chopped or bitten off, and her right front leg was missing above the elbow.  No one knows just what her background was, and she may even have been a bait dog for a dog fighting ring. In spite of her injuries, though, she loved people and would  play ball or any other people-related activity for hours on end. Against the advice of some dog experts, Gerald took her along on one of the K-9 Hospice's adoption days and, in a very short time, she found a wonderful new forever home!

Scooter & Speck

In May of 2008, the K-9 Hospice crew brought Scooter along to one of their weekend adoption parties, but left his running mate, Speck, at home. It didn't take long before Scooter caught the eye of a "mountain man" who was eager to adopt him. Then, when Scooter's new friend learned that Scooter had a dog pal waiting for him back at the K-9 Hospice, he came on out to get Speck (see below) too, so the two would not need to be separated.

Speck happily joined his dog pal Scooter in a new forever home!

Denver

Picture
Denver, standing here next to his person Annie, joined an Iowa household in the fall of 2008, when Annie made a trip to Arkansas and fell in love with this white "gentle giant." Denver has adjusted well to Iowa life and enjoys spending time with canine friends Bailey (right) and Kye (center). In this picture, the dogs are enjoying an afternoon at Saylorville Lake.

Wondergirl

Picture
Wondergirl (the black dog) was a rescue dog, who found a wonderful (and patient!) family able to give her the time and attention she needed. Here, she plays with her new dog pal, then relaxes (right) for some serious chew time.

White Foxy

Picture
White Foxy was not with the K-9 Hospice long before her new family found her - a perfect match for their other American Eskimo. Foxy's new "mom" Ramona describes early battles with heart worms and pneumonia, but Foxy's doing great now, and enjoys all the comforts and love a new forever home provides!

Elwood

Picture
From homelessness to visits with Santa! Sweet Elwood had lived a rough life and the K-9 Hospice thought he was unlikely to find his own forever home outside of the Hospice - until volunteer Danielle fell in love with this skinny, finnicky "senior"!  Though he's still a finnicky eater, Elwood has gained weight and enjoys romping with his other canine friends at his new home.
