Adopting a Rescue Dog
The adoption of a rescue dog is not a decision to made lightly - it will demand your full commitment (and a few resources), lots of energy, and patience. The rewards, however, are infinite! (check back here soon for more information and resources for helping a rescue dog make a smooth transition to a forever home)
If you are thinking of offering a forever home to one of our canine friends, consider . . .
- Do I have the time right now to make a commitment to this dog? To walk and play with daily? To observe, train, and love? Can I be home the first few days while the dog adjusts to the new home? Am I truly willing and able to create a "forever home" for a canine friend?
- What dog temperament and breed will be best for my household? Frisky? A lounger? One who needs to run and chase balls? Or one who will love to lay in my lap and get belly rubs?
- Do I have kids to consider, and am I ready to help them develop the responsibility required of all dog owners?
- Do I have the resources to commit to this new family member? Do I have the space? The money for vet care?
- Do I have the love, compassion, and patience to give to this new family member, not just for today or this week, but in the coming years?
Be very realistic as you think this commitment through. If you know you are ready to provide a forever home to a rescue dog, contact us and we'll arrange to introduce you to our dogs!
When you're ready, view or download our adoption contract (below). Bring the completed form with you to your K-9 Hospice/HSGRV visit or to one of our Russelville Adoption Days. Thank you for offering a forever home!
